Tuscan placemats & napkins

I had a delicious time sewing with these soft batiks, so lush.

This was a custom order for six placemats and napkins (my first!)

When I browsed batiks at the local quilt shop, I was overwhelmed with their beauty and uinqueness.

Combinations are endless. I especially love these warm earthy colors the customers requested. I free-motion machine quilted around the florals.

They would also be beautiful in blues, browns, golds, reds, purples, all available in batik.

  1. Wow! That fabric is amazing and your set is gorgeous. I think we're still on for lunch on August 12 (I am, unless your plans have changed!). Will you bring some of your recent work? I'd love to see it in person!

    1. Jeanie, I'm pleased you like these! When I stand among the batiks, I seriously go into a Zen state. :) Then working with them is pure pleasure.

Yes, I have us on the 12th for lunch! So happy we got it on the calendar, and I am looking forward to seeing you after so long and catching up. I'll bring anything I have, which isn't much because my shop is mostly by order. I finished this commission and have two more, and of course those will be shipped. I think I might have a mug mat or two to show, and one finished quilt. :)

    1. Thank you, Boots! As Nancy says, when you have good materials to work with ...

I love knowing you and Astrid are enjoying your table dressings. :) I wonder if you've had to press the napkins? I hope everything still looks nice.

  3. I love the colors and the pattern – some stoneware pottery would look great on your place mats. They are lovely. I could see this pattern also as a table run (is it what you call this – you know along the table?) with some field flowers in a vase.

    1. Vagabonde, I'm glad you like these. I agree with you, and thank you (!) — stoneware would look great with these. (Must get some for staging ... good excuse, eh?) Yes, a table runner would be very nice, and now you've given me an idea for an autumn gift. Glad for your visit!
